The seam allowance for this project is ¼” and ½”. Seam allowance is indicated at each step.
Finished Size: Approximately 4” × 5¾”
Materials:
*This project uses a combination of quilting cotton and faux suede for Print A. If you would like to use the combination pictured in the project samples (checker board pattern alternating between the two), refer to the cutting instructions. The purchasing quantities include assorted fat eighths or a 2½” jelly roll. Please note that you will have a lot of leftover fabrics if you select this option so you may want to make a few pouches.
Directional fabric is not recommended for the 4½” × 2½” Print A pieces. See video 01:03.
The fusible fleece is dependent on the materials selected for Print A as it will only be fused to pieces that are 100% quilting cotton (or similar). Refer to the cutting instructions for options and see video 02:35.
Materials (Yardage)
Print A (Quilting Cotton/Faux Suede*): Assorted Fat Eighths (Quantity dependent on how many prints you'd like to mix) OR 2½” Jelly Roll
Print B (Quilting Cotton): Fat Eighth
Fusible Fleece (Pellon 987F or similar): ¼ yard
Continuous Nylon Zipper #3 or No. 3 or Size 3: ¼ yard with 1 Zipper Pull Cut to 5¾”
Materials (Scraps) See cutting below
Cutting:
Print A (Quilting Cotton)
(6) 2½” × 2½”
(3) 4½” × 2½”
If you would like the checker board pattern (alternating between cotton and faux suede):
Quilting Cotton: (4) 2½” × 2½” and (1) 4½” × 2½”
Faux Suede: (2) 2½” × 2½” and (2) 4½” × 2½”
Print B (Quilting Cotton)
(2) 4¼” × 6½” Lining
(1) 1” or width of zipper × 2¼” Zipper Tab
Fusible Fleece
Option A
This option is ideal if you are using a mixture of materials for Print A. They will be fused to the Print A pieces before they are joined and will only be fused to lightweight pieces, such as 100% quilting cotton, not the faux suede. Quantities of each piece may vary depending on the materials you have chosen.
(6) 2½” × 2½”
(3) 4½” × 2½”
Option B
This option is ideal if you are only using 100% quilting cotton (or similar) for Print A. The pieces will be fused to the exterior after the rows are joined.
(1) 6½” × 6½”
(1) 2½” × 6½”
