Basis des Redesigns sollte eine neue Caravan-Bauweise und Konstruktionsform von Knaus Tabbert sein, die neue Möglichkeiten hinsichtlich Gewicht, Ausbau und Nutzung schafft. Ein herkömmlicher Caravan wird über eine Bodenplattform um seinen Ausbau und seine Möbel herum aufgebaut. Die Möbel sind damit statisch wirksam und können nicht ausgebaut oder geändert werden. Dies erfordert einen hohen Varianten- und Vorplanungsgrad bei der Fertigung.
Die neue FibreFrame-Bauweise nutzt einen umlaufenden Rahmen, der auf das Fahrgestell gesetzt wird und alle statischen Aufgaben übernimmt. Die Wände, das Dach, die Front und das Heck können somit wesentlich leichter ausgeführt werden und die Möbel und der Ausbau sind variabel an die Nutzungen anpassbar.
Die Aufgabe der Hochschule Rosenheim war es, neue Konzepte und Interior Designs für den Caravan zu entwickeln, die durch die FibreFrame-Bauweise neu gewonnenen Freiheiten massiv nutzen und dem Konzept neue Zielgruppen zu erschließen. Mit der FibreFrame-Technologie konnte die Tragstruktur des Caravans »T@B« mit einem Gewicht unter 80 Kilogramm ausgeführt werden. Die Bodenelemente, Seitenwände, die Frontwand, die Heckwand und die Dachelemente werden in den FibreFrame eingesetzt. Damit ergeben sich Leichtbau und Modulbaumöglichkeiten, die im Caravanbau vollkommen neu sind.
Das FibreFrame-Konzept bietet auch neue Möglichkeiten, den Caravan zu öffnen, da Dach und Wände weniger zur Gesamtstatik beitragen müssen als bei konventionellen Bauweisen. Variable Einbauten können so auch durch das große Panoramafenster in das Innere des Caravans eingebracht werden. Schlafen unter einem transparentem Skylight oder unter dem freien Sternenhimmel wird möglich. Der Caravan kann bei Bedarf großzügig über das Dach belüftet werden. Mückengitter bzw. Moskitonetzeinsätze sind denkbar. Es können Hubdach-Varianten entwickelt werden, die entweder die nutzbare Raumhöhe vergrößern oder zusätzlichen Raum, z.B. Schlafplätze schaffen. Für das Interieur bringt die FibreFrame-Bauweise einerseits die Vorteile des flexiblen Ausbaus und einer variablen, modularen Möblierung, andererseits aber auch neue Nutzungszenarien: Der FibreFrame-Caravan kann auch leer z.B. als Transportanhänger benutzt werden.

The basis of the redesign was to be a new caravan construction method and design form by Knaus Tabbert, which creates new possibilities with regard to weight, extension and use. A conventional caravan is built around its interior and furniture via a floor platform. The furniture is thus statically effective and cannot be removed or changed. This requires a high degree of variant and pre-planning during production.
The new FibreFrame construction method uses a circumferential frame which is placed on the chassis and takes over all static tasks. The walls, the roof, the front and the rear can thus be made much lighter and the furniture and fittings can be variably adapted to the uses.
The task of the Rosenheim University of Applied Sciences was to develop new concepts and interior designs for the caravan, to make massive use of the freedom newly gained by the FibreFrame construction method and to open up new target groups for the concept. Using FibreFrame technology, the load-bearing structure of the »T@B« caravan could be designed with a weight of less than 80 kilograms. The floor elements, side walls, front wall, rear wall and roof elements are inserted into the FibreFrame. This results in lightweight construction and modular construction possibilities that are completely new in caravan construction.
The FibreFrame concept also offers new possibilities for opening up the caravan, as the roof and walls have to contribute less to the overall structural strength than with conventional construction methods. Variable fixtures can thus also be incorporated into the interior of the caravan through the large panorama window. Sleeping under a transparent skylight or under the open starry sky becomes possible. The caravan can be generously ventilated through the roof if required. Mosquito screens or mosquito net inserts are conceivable. Lifting roof variants can be developed, which either increase the usable room height or create additional space, e.g. sleeping places. For the interior, the FibreFrame construction method brings the advantages of flexible expansion and variable, modular furniture on the one hand, but also new usage scenarios on the other: The FibreFrame caravan can also be used empty, e.g. as a transport trailer.
