Dr. Kazuko Hillyer Tatsumura, president of Gaia Holistic Foundation and vice president of Orphans International Worldwide, and Jim Luce, president of Orphans International Worldwide, travelled to Delhi, Dharamshala, and Tawang in India from the end of September to the beginning of October 2019.
While they were there they held an audience with His Holiness the 14th Lama, lifelong friend of Dr. Kazuko, to discuss support of the home and school for orphaned and disadvantaged Tibetan children in Tawang, 8,000 feet high in the Himalayas. This is the Manjushree Orphanage, named after the Tibetan God of Wisdom.
Dharamshala, capital of the Tibetan Government in Exile, is in the north of India between Pakistan and China (Tibet) adjacent to Nepal. Tawang, birthplace of several Dalai Lamas, is in the northeast between Nepal and China (Tibet) adjacent to Myanmar (Burma) and is part of Historic Tibet.
The trip to Tawang from the airport at Guwahati took two days by 4x4 jeep, traversing nine mountains. While they were in India, Dr. Kazuko and Jim visited the Tibetan Children’s Village in Dharamshala, met with the President of the Tibetan Government in Exile, visited various Buddhist shrines and monasteries, and stayed at the Manjushree Tibetan Orphanage in Tawang.
The one million dollar academic building that opened recently at Manjushree Orphanage was spearheaded by Dr. Kazuko and her Gaia Holistic Foundation with support from Orphans International Worldwide.
