LAKE ERIE DISAPPEARED: Extreme Seiche Drains Wild Wings Marina

Описание: On December 29, 2025, one of the most extreme weather events in recent Great Lakes history took place. Sustained winds of 40-50 mph, with gusts reaching over 60 mph, created a massive seiche on Lake Erie.

In this video, we head down to Wild Wings Marina and boat ramp in Oak Harbor, Ohio, to document the shocking results. The water level dropped a staggering 8 feet below normal, leaving the harbor and boat ramps bone dry. What is usually a bustling waterway for Lake Erie anglers was transformed into a landscape of mud and exposed lakebed.

What is a Seiche? Often called a "reverse tsunami" or "bathtub effect," a seiche occurs when strong winds push water from one end of the lake to the other. On this day, the water was pushed away from the Western Basin (Toledo/Oak Harbor) and piled up in Buffalo, NY, creating a water level difference of over 12 feet across the lake!
