Описание: We’re going to break down the different components of a passenger tyre. At the end of this video, you will have an in-depth understanding of the basic Bridgestone tyre construction.
The tread is in direct contact with the road. It is made of a rubber compound designed to increase grip, resist wear, and reduce rolling resistance.

The next component is the undertread. It consists of a rubber compound and is made to improve rolling resistance for more efficient fuel consumption.

The cap strip consists of polyester, nylon, or polyester and aramid fibres. It’s shaped in a circumferential cap strip – which increases the tyre's durability at high speeds and handling performance.

The cap ply is very similar in terms of material and function. The only differences are in shape and position. Similar to the cap ply, the belts also increase durability and puncture resistance, and improve handling. There are two belts situated at opposite angles. The gum strip is made of rubber and protects the edges of tread ply 2. Below tread ply 2 is another tread ply for extra durability, puncture resistance and improved handling. This is also reinforced with a gum strip to protect it from the edge of tread ply 2.

The last of the belts is the tread ply insert, constructed to protect the body ply from the edge of tread ply 1. This forms the skeleton of the tyre. It carries tyre load, improves handling, and increases comfort and durability. Tyres can feature one or two body ply carcasses to better support higher stress and fatigue.

The next component is the mini side wall made of rubber compound. It is positioned to harmonise the junction between the tread and the side wall. The side wall is made of highly resilient, and heat-resistant, rubber compounds - with a specifically designed gauge. It protects the body ply and increases comfort by absorbing the tyre flex. The side wall also features markings such as size, name, homologation codes, and more.

Then onto the abrasion gum strip. It is made of rubber compound and improves resistance and protection from abrasion, tears, and cuts.
The inner line has a specific design thickness and consists of butyl rubber. It is nearly airtight and prevents excessive air loss.

The chafer is a coated fabric that protects the body ply cords from wheel damage.

The bead construction is made out of steel wires and rubber compounds. It ensures the tight fitting of the tyre onto the rim. It also provides more comfort and better handling.

The last component is the bead thinner which is made of rubber compound and improves bead area fatigue resistance. It can lead to better handling and enhanced comfort.
