**Important Note: A question came up at the end of this webinar about how we help retailers handle a switch from their current SMS Text Campaign platform to our SMS Text platform. I had mentioned that we may be able to help a retailer with a mass opt-in as long as their customers had already agreed to be a part of their SMS Text List. I have since found out that this is tricky and not advisable due to privacy laws related to Text Messaging. In short, during a mass opt-in all of your customers on your previous lists would receive text messages asking them if they want to continue to receive messages from you. This message will give them the option to reply "STOP" which would opt them out. Apparently, if too many people reply STOP, it flags your number and you will get blocked (which a customer can do at any point even if they gave consent). You can get it unblocked of course but they (the carrier) are going to want to ask questions and would be unhappy with the idea of an auto opt-in. Meaning they are not going to be happy that you sent out thousands of texts asking people to opt-in.
The standard procedure for opting people into your SMS Text list is during the checkout process so the customer can give you a verbal "yes" and at that point, the cashier can send them the "welcome text" - this takes all of 12 seconds. More info: https://support.astroloyalty.com/port...
