• Pedalboard The Making of | Viscount Clas... - Viscount factory upgrade
The Viscount pedalboard in this video was purchased a few years ago, just before the Viscount company upgraded the pedal switches to much more reliable and durable magnetic reed contacts. The older version using tactile push buttons and rubber tubing had very limited working lifespan and was prone to fail.
I attempted to repair the old switches in the past by cleaning and resoldering the two boards but they failed again. Viscount then offered retrofit sets to replace the older technology with the new magnetic switches. With high demand for the upgraded kits, I waited about 18 months before my kit finally arrived. It looked great but it was for a different, slightly larger pedalboard and I had to send it back.
At this point I decided to do my own removal of the failed switches (six of them so far). I replaced them with 7mm long reed switches and strong neodymium toy magnets that came from a toy set branded "Magnetix."
The rest of the story is in this video.
