The tutorial continues and we try our luck in the very first full mission. We're definitely getting the classic experience: hiring multiple heroes to build a unit chain for when creature growth triggers at the start of a new week, building out cities and collecting resources, taking down enemy heroes and - if we're lucky - eventually taking over their keep and eliminating them!
It's really fun to see the franchise revived and surviving with Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era, the thing for me with these 'remakes' is that although I can see the developer's love and passion for the project, all it makes me want to do is boot up the old games that I grew up on. Why go classic but make it look so shiny and polished, you know? I miss the old game music, the pixel art.
I think I'd like to dedicate some time to exactly those older games next year, in 2026, for this channel here: Hidden Sam. Let us know in the comments what you games you'd like to see us play!
