Whisky.com reviews the Balcones Texas Single Malt. Balcones Texas Single Malt is one of the few single malts from the USA. There are less strict requirements for single malt than for its Scottish representatives. This can ripen for less than three years and also contain other types of grain than barley. Pot stills are also not primarily used; American whiskey is often distilled continuously on patent or column stills. At Balcones, however, they made a conscious decision to have pot stills made by the well-known Scottish manufacturer Forsyths.
