In the cabinet briefing held on 24th Feb, Union Minister announced a big policy push towards renewable energy, approving enhanced delegation to PowerGrid - one of India's largest public limited companies. This push enables POWERGRID to expand transmission capacity, participate in UHVAC & HVDC projects, and support India’s 500 GW clean energy target. The enhanced capacity will help POWERGRID in building bigger power highways, which will help the government in setting up large solar and wind power fields away from urban areas more sustainably.
