Описание: Every great Urdu poet, including Ghalib, has written a couplet honoring Mir as a pioneer and a trailblazer. According to Firaq Gorakhpuri, “When Mir puts his hand on his heart, we get the feeling that he has placed his hand on the heart of all humanity. Our Mir thus becomes Mir of the whole world.” Mir’s true greatness lies in the fact that he was the first major poet to demonstrate the true hidden literary beauty of the Urdu language. From the raw vernacular and colloquial green roots in Agra to the Persianized fusion and sophistication of Delhi and the mellow sweetness of Awadhi in Lucknow, Mir covered the whole spectrum. The magic of Mir was felt in all time periods of Urdu’s growth and development, and he got the recognition that he deserved through the title Khudaa-e Sukhan used generally by one and all. The beauty of his tone and his sensitivity to love and his courage to face human suffering will never diminish. He gave voice to silent moments that language generally ignores, and he drew memorable pictures with words that linger in the reader’s consciousness long after he stops reading or reciting a couplet or a ghazal. Mir took the malleable and nearly half-baked Rekhta of the mid-eighteenth century to new heights and with this, he reached the pinnacle of literary Urdu’s poetic and creative journey.
