In Sydney, the Leader of the Opposition, the Hon. Peter Dutton MP, addressed Institute of Public Affairs members on Australia’s energy security and why Australia must consider new nuclear technologies as part of the energy mix.
Energy is a vital national policy discussion right now. Australians face record and rising power prices and the decisions government makes today will determine Australia’s energy future.
Energy security is national security. Australia cannot have the economic and manufacturing base necessary to sustain our economic and defence goals without reliable and affordable energy.
The strategic implications of our proposed energy transformation have been masked by its embedded claims that what emerges will be just as reliable and just as affordable as what it replaces.
Since 1943, the IPA has been proud to have hosted many Members of Parliament from both sides of politics and reiterates the open invitation to our leaders should they wish to address an audience of IPA members.
