Debris seen in this video is reportedly from a MQ-9 Reaper surveillance drone shot down near Bandar Abbas by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps air-defence system.
The MQ-9 Reaper, widely used by the United States Air Force for surveillance, intelligence gathering, and precision strikes, costs roughly $30 million per unit.
Reports suggest that around 11 U.S. drones have been lost in the past two weeks, potentially amounting to over $330 million in losses. The incident highlights a growing reality of modern warfare, relatively cheaper air-defence systems can sometimes bring down extremely expensive advanced drones, shifting the economic balance of conflict.
