LIVE: The youth-led Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) holds a Tricolour rally in New Delhi in support of detained party leaders, amid a dispute over protest restrictions and alleged electoral irregularities.

The rally follows the detention of CJP leaders Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka, who were sent to five days of judicial custody after entering Jantar Mantar while carrying the national flag. The site was recently removed from Delhi's list of designated protest venues.

CJP has been protesting over alleged irregularities in the revision of electoral rolls and has demanded the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The Election Commission has defended its voter-verification process, while allegations of political manipulation remain disputed.

Authorities heightened security in Connaught Place ahead of the planned rally, and Central Park was announced closed to the public on October 16 and 17. Police said a small group could be facilitated to carry the national flag and sing the national anthem at a suitable location.
