As I navigate my youth and look toward turning 21, I'm realizing that we spend way too much time trying to convince the wrong people of our worth. If someone mistakes your genuine kindness for being "fake," that is their limit, not yours. You don't need to perform your identity for anyone.

This is a reminder to embrace exactly what you have in your "cup" right now, to feel the present day, and to remember that tomorrow is never promised.

• Stop Explaining: Give yourself permission to let people misunderstand you.
• Know Your Value: You have something to share right now, even if you are still figuring things out.
• Live in the Present: The future isn't guaranteed. Go at your own pace, take the opportunities you want, and most importantly, just be yourself.
