Georgy Konstantinovich Zhukov (1896 -1974) was a Soviet general and Marshal of the Soviet Union.
He also served as Chief of the General Staff, Minister of Defence, and was a member of the Presidium of the Communist Party (later Politburo). During World War II, Zhukov oversaw some of the Red Army's most decisive victories.
This march in his honour was composed by Aleksandra Pakhmutova (b.1929) a Soviet and Russian composer.
She has remained one of the best-known figures in Soviet and later Russian popular music since she first achieved fame in her homeland in the 1960s.
This performance is by the Marine Band of the Royal Netherlands Navy conducted by Peter Kleine Schaars.
It is track 11 on an Aliud compact disc titled Semper Iuvenalis (ACD BL 086-2).
