Partisans sabotaged Russia’s railway logistics network in rear-area operation

Ukraine-linked partisan fighters have struck a major railway point near the Russian-occupied city of Luhansk, disrupting logistics used by Moscow’s forces. The group ATESH reported via its Telegram channel that its operatives sabotaged infrastructure at the site, destroying a relay cabinet and causing severe damage that cannot be quickly repaired.

According to the group, the affected rail line is a vital route supplying Russian units operating along the Kupiansk and Lyman fronts, areas currently seeing some of the heaviest combat. Freight trains moving through the hub had been delivering ammunition, components for armored vehicles, as well as fuel and lubricants intended to support frontline assault units. By disabling the rail control equipment, ATESH claims it effectively halted traffic along that stretch of track.

As a result, deliveries were delayed, leaving troops without scheduled resupplies of ammunition and spare parts, which the group says has reduced their ability to sustain offensive operations. The sabotage is part of a broader pattern of recent actions attributed to ATESH, which has repeatedly targeted Russian railway infrastructure as part of a campaign to disrupt military logistics.

One of the most common methods used by the group is sabotaging rail control systems, particularly relay cabinets and signaling equipment. In several reported cases in occupied areas such as Zaporizhzhia, operatives set fire to relay boxes, halting the movement of military trains and causing delays in transporting troops and supplies.

Earlier in March, the group reported destroying a transformer in Sievierodonetsk that supplied electricity to the headquarters of Russia’s 123rd Artillery Brigade. The resulting blackout allegedly disrupted communications and command systems, hindering coordination and the transmission of orders. In another incident reported on March 22, ATESH members said they set fire to a Russian military vehicle, rendering it unusable. These operations are presented by the group as part of an ongoing effort to undermine Russian logistics and military effectiveness behind the front lines.
