Описание: Gettysburg’s July 3rd, 1863 is well remembered for being the last day of heavy fighting between the Northern and Southern armies. Pickett’s Charge, Custer’s fight on East Cavalry Field and H. J. Kilpatrick’s attack west of Big Round Top are well studied. However, south of Gettysburg along the Emmitsburg Road are two small plots of battlefield owned by the Gettysburg National Military Park. These rarely visited parts of the battlefield commemorate the cavalry actions under the command of Brig. General Wesley Merritt. On the afternoon of July 3rd, while the sounds of battle rage to the north, Merritt’s troopers would advance up the Emmitsburg Road and attack the flank and rear of southern troops. This video is to make the viewer a little more familiar with the attack of Merritt’s cavalry and the land that has been preserved.
