This walkthrough / review is focused on the 57cm Weber Smokey Mountain, the biggest in the Smokey Mountain range (the others are 47cm and 37cm).
Top section features:
In-built temperature gauge
Adjustable vent
Dual lid handles
Mid section features:
Two removeable cooking grates
Removeable water pan
Temperature probe insert
Door for accessing fuel
Bottom section features:
Charcoal ring for keeping tight, compact fuel
Three adjustable vents for fine tuning of air flow and temperature
Sturdy construction and leg supports
Heat deflector to protect the floor / ground that the smoker sits on
Pro's of the Smokey Mountain:
Two cooking grates allows for large cooks or for cooks to be performed with different schedules i.e. place the longer cook on the bottom grate and the faster cook on the top grate for easy access
Removable water pan offers great temperature control as well as the ability to cook dishes such as paella
Ability to add more fuel or water mid cook without dissembling the smoker
Fantastic space efficient smoker that can handle any low and slow cook
Con's of the Smokey Mountain:
Not known for its ability to reach high temperatures and sear (although it can be done by removing the top two sections and placing a grate directly on the fuel)
Not as customisable as some of its competitors, such as the Pro Q, making access to the lower grate a little challenging
