Charlie: For a top-of-the-line vision insurance company, how can I get a list of the providers (the doctors) to hand out to my employees? How do they even know what doctors are part of the plan?

Sherry: A top-of-the-line insurance company will give your employees a few different options to search for their providers, such as via a website where they can search for the provider in their home zip code area with a range of 5 miles and all the way up to 35 miles.

Charlie: So I go into the vision insurance company's website and I can put in my zip code and I can do a circle around there to show me where the doctors are?

Sherry: That is correct. Even if you have a college student, they can put their zip code in for where they want to see a provider.

Charlie: I had not thought of that, because I live here and my daughter goes to school up there, she's going to have coverage as well and she needs to find who the doctors are up there.

Sherry: Exactly.
Charlie: Do we still do paper handouts?

Sherry: We do not do paper handout, because a lot of companies put the items on their intranet.

Charlie: As soon as you print it it's out of date when you add another doctor.

Sherry: Right. The website is always the most up-to-date information that we have.

Charlie: If I'm looking to contract with a top-of-the-line vision insurance company, how do I as the Head of HR/Benefits (let's say) know all the different doctors that are available? How do I know you have enough doctors that are in my area?

Sherry: We'll do a geo-access report for you.

Charlie: "Geo" as in geography.

Sherry: Correct. We'll do that based on your employees' home zip codes to ensure that there are enough doctors in their areas.
Charlie: So we can put in their home zip codes and we can see all the doctors around there as a general indication to me as the Head of HR.

Sherry: That is correct.

Charlie: That's great, that makes it really easy. Does it put it up as a map, or how does it show me?

Sherry: It is a map of the full United States or whatever area we need to zone in on, and it will show you the coverage available.

Charlie: That's fabulous.
