Gadgetbridge lets you use proprietary earphones, watches, and other things, without needing to use their proprietary companion apps, by reverse engineering the protocols that they use, and reimplementing them with a more private and open source app. Originally, I thought WearOS, and a more powerful and standalone watch was better, but I came to realise that a simpler watch lead to being more useful and more FOSS-friendly.
