First appearing in Star Trek III: The Search for Spock in the form of the USS Grissom, the Oberth-class was typically used for scientific missions. Introduced in the 23rd Century, Oberth-class starships would be part of Starfleet for the next century--despite the fact that their crews tended to have short life-expectancies. In this video, we document the many appearances of the Oberth-class, from the TOS films through Lower Decks.
