#18 - Using budget paint bought from Ebay doesn't have to 'look' budget as we find out this week when we take the plunge and finally start work on the top coat of our 1975 classic Bedford MK Truck. We have done everything ourselves on limited resources in our workshop on a budget, but we've put in a lot of prep so we really didn't want to mess this up at the last stage! That is why we did a ton of research into the different kinds of paints available, and now we're sharing that research with you in today's video and explaining why we chose to use the particular paint system we used.
We hope you find the information useful and we also hope that you enjoy the video. If you do, give us a thumbs up and maybe consider subscribing to our little channel to find out how the restoration and build progresses.
We're learning as we go and we are definitely not professionals, so all the info provided is based on our own experience on this build. We are not sponsored by any of the companies mentioned and we do advise that you do your own research if you are planning on restoring and painting your own vehicle.
We used Advanced Paints for our top coat, and we are happy to recommend based on our experience of the paint and the helpful service we received. You can find them here ...

The other company mentioned in our video, based in the Midlands (UK) is Jawel Paints.
The paint we used is called Closterman Coatings and it is a 2-Pack (2K) direct to gloss paint system. We also used a Devilbiss FLG5 Spray Gun to apply the top coat.
We'll be back here in a couple of weeks with the rest of the paint job completed, so don't miss seeing the Bedford Cab fully restored in all her shiny glory.
Thanks for watching,
L&T

This channel is the story of us, Tim & Lisa, and our attempt to build the World's Greatest Adventure Mobile on the World's Smallest Budget ...
We are 2 'old enough to know better' artists from Cornwall in the UK, and together we are building an off-grid home on wheels from the remains of a 1975 Bedford Firetruck.
We bought the truck on eBay at the end of 2020 and had it delivered by an even bigger truck to a huge, old barn-on-a-farm we are renting to use as our workshop whilst we undertake this challenge.
It’s not the first time we’ve attempted something as daft as this … We once spent several years restoring and converting a 50 year old fishing trawler into a houseboat, so when we set out on this latest adventure, we told ourselves it would be a breeze …
Well, several months and a few set backs later, we’re currently in the process of ‘lovingly’ restoring the base vehicle, taking the whole thing apart, piece by rusty piece, so we can make it all new and shiny again, before we embark on the even bigger task of building a home on its back out of nothing more than grit, imagination, sweat, tears and possibly a bit of magic and wishful thinking!
Oh, and tea!
Subscribe to the channel and join us in our workshop and we promise it will be nothing if not value for money … it’s free, you see?
New video every second Friday. Grab a cup of tea, Subscribe and join us on our quest ...
