Backstage at the Dove Awards, Hulvey reflected on his emotional acceptance speech and what his win truly meant.
“For me, winning this award was an opportunity to share what’s on my heart about the Lord’s return and where our hearts should be,” he said. “I just see it as a platform to share.”
Hulvey opened up about the inspiration behind his deeply personal album Cry, explaining, “I started to wonder, why do we cry in God’s presence? I realized it’s because the Lord meets us in our pain. This album is me bearing that pain and showing how He met me in it.”
He also shared love for fellow artists like Brandon Lake, Lecrae, and TobyMac — recalling a touching memory when Toby once gave up his own interview time to spotlight him: “I’ll never forget that. I just hope to be that same encouragement for others coming up.”
