Floodwaters surged through parts of southern Spain and central Portugal as Storm Leo moved across the Iberian Peninsula.
Thousands were evacuated in Andalusia as rivers and dams reached extreme overflow risk, following heavy rainfall from last week’s deadly Storm Kristin.
Emergency alerts were raised to the highest levels, with authorities cancelling classes, restricting travel and deploying military and civil protection teams.
Officials warned saturated ground and continued rainfall could worsen flooding and increase the risk of landslides and infrastructure damage.
