Rather than adhering to typical residential conventions, the project reimagines domestic space as a series of carved moments — where volume is shaped by subtraction rather than addition. The result is a house that feels both grounded and sculptural, with spaces that unfold in surprising and intimate ways.

The architectural concept is rooted in the idea of “negative space” — the deliberate carving out of solid mass to create voids that define the interior experience. Walls and planes are treated as continuous surfaces, and openings are carefully calibrated not merely for light or view, but as spatial events that modulate perception. As one moves through the house, moments of compression give way to unexpected expanse, encouraging a continuous negotiation between enclosure and openness.

Materiality reinforces the conceptual rigor of the design. A restrained palette of board-formed concrete, smooth plaster, and warm timber creates a tactile environment that feels both elemental and refined. These materials are left in an honest state, their textures and imperfections contributing to a sense of craft and presence.
