2am: experience
2am: experience is an extension of 2am: lab. It takes on a multi-disciplinary approach that not only delivers food, but also it has been modeled to set out to create new extraordinary experiences for different clientele.
Constantly pushing the boundaries from designing menus for clients based on different themes in custom made serve ware and creating larger than life edible art pieces in large spaces up to 4000sq ft. Chef Janice Wong uses 2am: lab to experiment and try out new ways through usage of food and findings from the overall user experience of a client when interacting with her food. Gone are the days of nicely plated food creations on a plate, but clients are forced to take a double look at what they see in a space, to literally touch, feel, smell and interact with well crafted food art plastered to different surfaces.
A great example was the book launch that Chef Janice Wong did for her book launch, "Perfection in Imperfection/Imperfection in Perfection". The book was launched locally in a warehouse space filled with edible installations created by Chef Janice Wong such as marshmallow icicles; sugar crystal corals and rocks, edible moss, and fruit puree paintings. The idea tickled among many guests at the party as their 5 senses were opened up to a whole new dimension when they climbed up ladders to cut down pieces of marshmallow, or viewing close to edible wall paintings and placing their face against clear acrylic to suck up different types of purees injected into an acrylic tube.
