Have you been diagnosed with Dupuytrens Contracture? Maybe even told you will need surgery?
Or better yet, before all that, do you notice in the part of your palm which is closest to your fingers (Distal Metacarpals) painful, with a nodule, or starting to harden, thicken, pulling the 3rd and or 4th digit into flexion towards the palm? Watch this video, and try these three things first!
*Surgery has major risks, whereas this approach is the least risky thing you could try if your range of motion in extension of the wrist is limited. Remember to go slow, don't push at all past a comfortable, good stretch, work with where you are at each day, maybe even gently increase the stretch as you exhale slowly.
1. Stretch Palmar Longus and wrist flexors for 3-5 mins, remember to have a bent elbow, and only allow the wrist to be where it comfortably rests, focusing on improving that range of motion 1-3 times per week.
2. Roll your forearms 1-3 times weekly for 3-5 minutes
3. Book in with your favorite Osteopathic Therapist at myislandmo.com to prevent further disfiguration of the fingers and palm and prevent the need for surgery YEARS later!!!
