This dynamic perpetuates the idea that art must align with business principles, making it complicit in sustaining capitalist realism rather than undermining it.

Fisher’s critique of cultural malaise—what he called "depressive hedonia"—applies here: art is increasingly preoccupied with immediate gratification and surface-level engagement, avoiding deeper or more unsettling truths. This flattening of creativity ensures art doesn’t challenge the status quo but rather reinforces it, all while presenting the illusion of freedom and diversity. For Fisher, reclaiming art’s radical potential means breaking free from this market-driven cycle and reimagining its role as a force for meaningful change.
