Ilya Ilyin/Polovnikov/Mendes Seminar Training (Ilya 180kg CJ + Vasiliy 190kg SN + Mendes 200kg CJ)

This is a workout from August 2017 featuring Ilya llyin, Vasiliy Polovnikov (also Vasily is an acceptable spelling) and Pat Mendes doing a training session when they visited the Moorestown Weightlifting Club in New Jersey for a seminar (Pat was just training, not part of the seminar). Ilya went fairly light because he was traveling back and forth to Kazakhstan/US at this time and he hadn't done much training in the weeks leading up to this due to his travel and commitments in Kazakhstan. A month+ earlier he did 170/215 in this video:    • Big Thursday: Ilya Ilyin 170kg Snatch 215k...  . Both Pat and Vasiliy went fairly heavy for their abilities and training level.

Regarding the camera work in this seminar, our trained photo/video team was overseas at the Summer Universiade and Chinese National Games at the time of this seminar. So this was shot by someone who'd never shot weightlifting training before, had never used this camera, is not a camera expert at all and was trained in about 30 minutes prior to our team leaving for Asia. So overall, actually, it came out great. But this particular camera (Sony A7s II -- which we don't own anymore) was a poor camera for shooting training for a number of reasons so you'll notice a decent amount of out of focus shots. Not to get into the details of cameras as we aren't a tech channel but this camera is bad for weightlifting training mostly due to the large sensor decreasing the depth of field and also due to the lack of a touchscreen (tough to pinpoint focus quickly/accurately). Our current training hall camera (GH5 or GH5s) is way easier and better to shoot with in these sorts of environments. Overall though, given the tough camera and the lack of experience, the footage actually came out quite well! But if you see any strange angles, lack of focus, shakey video, etc -- that's why.

Some Notes:

-In this workout Ilya snatches up to 150kg (7:09), and clean and jerks up to 180kg (10:48).
-Vasiliy snatches up to 190kg (6:58).
-Mendes snatches up to 170kg (5:18), and clean and power jerks 200kg (11:41).

-We know that Vasiliy can be spelled multiple ways. His name is actually spelled Василий but that can be spelled multiple ways in Latin characters. He's alternated back and forth with the spellings from what we've seen. Vasily, Vasiliy -- same thing. Same thing as Dmitry, Dmitrii, Dmitri being the same name for Дмитрий or when Ilya changed his last name latin character spelling from Ilin to Ilyin.
-The intro/outro music is generic music purchased from a royalty free music site called Pond5. Music like this is not something you can find on youtube, itunes, spotify, etc.
