Preparations for the May Day celebrations are well underway when Stan discovers that the old maypole has gone rotten over winter and is unusable. The replacement that is found and erected in Top Acre Field goes missing before the big day leaving no time to find another. Little Red Tractor stands in at the last minute allowing everyone to have the fun day they had hoped for.

The Little Red Tractor lives on Gosling Farm with a young farmer called Stan. The farm is a modest size, but full of rural charm. The local farming community is made up of colourful characters including larger, more powerful machines than Little Red Tractor, but our hero relies on his wit and determination to compete in the everyday challenges they face.
