Drivers eye view of the first of five Great Western Express scenarios in Train Sim World - 'West World'.
Great Western Express released in September 2017, and covers the route between London Paddington and Reading on the Great Western Mainline, set in 2015. The route includes the BR Class 43 'High Speed Train', BR Class 166 'Networker Turbo' and BR Class 66 'Shed'. A variety of passenger, freight and ECS services can be driven along the route.
The British Rail Class 43 'High Speed Train' is the fastest diesel locomotive in the world - with a top speed of 148.5mph. These trains were built between 1975 and 1982, and were in service with Great Western Railway until 2019. They operated intercity services from London into Wales and the West of England.
The 'West World' scenario sees us set off at London Paddington, going as far as Reading with no intermediate stops. It's roughly 30 minutes long and is ranked 2/5 on the difficulty scale. The scenario description goes as follows: "You're scheduled to drive a high speed service out of London to the West Country. When ready, head over and get things set up for departure."
