About KATONE:

Philadelphia-born drummer Jimmy Katone—professionally known simply as “Katone”—returns on 30 May 2025 with the three-song EP Flesh and Fire on NRT-Records. Written, sung and largely performed by Katone himself, the record blends gothic atmosphere with classic hard- and dark-rock textures while revolving around themes of irresistible yet potentially destructive passion. The opening title track sets a brooding tone, portraying an attraction so intense it can wound. “Bound by Chains” follows with a blues-tinged rock-’n’-roll feel that delves into the lure of submission and forbidden devotion, and the closing song “Pull Me Under” paints obsession, pain and bondage imagery against an ominous groove. Long-time collaborators Igor Mueller and Al Augunas—both from Katone’s 1980s band Hit The Ground Runnin’—add extra guitar layers, the mastering is by Nathan Schwartz, and Indonesian artist Pasek Dwipayana provides the cover art. Katone handled the entire production himself and has created matching music videos that will premiere simultaneously with the EP.

Flesh and Fire distils four decades of experience that began with Katone’s breakthrough on Hit The Ground Runnin’s 1989 debut Sudden Impact and continued through a run of solo albums starting with 1999’s Committing Suicide, whose mix of T. Rex swagger and Marilyn Manson darkness set the tone for later releases such as The Next Devil, Plastic Udder and Erotic Crystallization Inertia. After years producing other artists, he resurfaced with albums like Kat O’ Nine Tales (2010) and Digital Warlock (2016), all while reuniting with Hit The Ground Runnin’ for concerts and new recordings. Recent highlights include drumming on Mason’s 2024 album I Can’t Wait and guest appearances on Ritchie Newton’s singles “Higher Power” and “Crying in the Summer Rain.” With its concise runtime and unflinching lyrical focus, Flesh and Fire offers a darkly passionate statement from an artist who now puts his surname—and his singular vision—front and center once again.
