Luxair Dash 8 Emergency Landing at Nice | One Engine Out & Mayday Fuel

Описание: On January 22nd, 2026, Luxair Flight 8255, operated by a Dash 8 Q400, experienced a landing gear malfunction while approaching Nice Côte d’Azur Airport.

During the approach, the crew received an unsafe indication on the right landing gear, leading to a discontinued approach and extended holding over the Mediterranean Sea. As a precaution, the right engine was shut down, and due to the prolonged airborne time, the flight later declared Mayday fuel, requiring immediate landing priority.

At the time of arrival, only runway 04 Left was operational, as runway 04 Right was closed. The aircraft performed a long, straight-in final approach and landed safely on runway 04L under single-engine configuration.

After coming to a complete stop on the runway, passengers were evacuated as a precaution, while emergency services secured and inspected the aircraft. No injuries were reported among the 74 passengers and crew.

Following safety checks, the left engine and then the right engine were restarted, allowing the aircraft to vacate the runway under its own power. During the event, airport operations were disrupted, with several inbound flights diverted, mainly to Marseille Provence Airport.
