A social media project inspired by the ‘Humans of New York’ photoblog has been sharing beautiful portraits and interviews of residents from a far north Queensland Aboriginal community in the hope of transforming people’s perceptions about the place.
A local police officer started ‘Yarrie Yarns’ at a time when Yarrabah was getting a lot of bad press and arguments on social media were turning into community fights.
The project hopes to use social media as a force for good by sharing local success stories and encouraging its followers to #postpositive and #livepositive.
