In this master class featuring a variety of imagery from the Rohingya crisis in Burma (Myanmar), we will explore the use of photography and satellite imagery alongside interviews and testimony to create a narrative that is both compelling and capable of bringing about change at the highest levels. We will also discuss how Human Rights Watch conducts its research and presents materials to best illustrate various cases and prepare for counter-narratives from governments and other actors.

Tijdens deze masterclass met een variatie aan beeldmateriaal van de Rohingya crisis in Birma, laten we zien hoe fotografie en satellietbeelden samen met interviews en verklaringen een verhaal kunnen creëren dat niet alleen aangrijpend is, maar ook voor verandering kan zorgen tot op het hoogste niveau. We bespreken hoe Human Rights Watch onderzoek doet en materiaal presenteert om verschillende gevallen zo goed mogelijk weer te geven en hoe de organisatie zich voorbereidt op tegenstrijdige verklaringen van overheden en andere partijen.
