Kalpeshwar Mahadev, located in the Garhwal Himalayas of Uttarakhand, is the fifth temple of the Panch Kedar pilgrimage circuit, dedicated to the "Jata" (matted locks) of Lord Shiva. Dating back to the Mahabharata era, the temple is where the Pandavas, guided by Sage Vyas, worshipped Shiva to seek forgiveness for killing their kin. The shrine, situated in the Urgam Valley at 2,200 meters, is known for the "Jatadhari" manifestation of Shiva.
