도성청자요 김영수 명장의 작품세계를 다뤄 보았다.
겸손한 명인이자 우리나라 투각기법의 대가이다.

오늘은 김영수 명장의 특기인 이중투각이 만들어 지는 과정을
담아 보기로 했다.

물레성형은
원심력을 이용해서 반죽한 점토를 올려놓고
중심이 흐트러지지 않게 모양을 만들어 주는 작업이다.
흔한 흙이 이 과정을 통해 단단하고 아름다운 빛을 내는
도자기로 변신하는 기초 과정이다.

이중투각 도자기를 만들기 위해서는
두 개의 크고 작은 도자기를 성형해서
마름을 방지하기 위해 비닐에 쌓아 보관한뒤
투각작업을 하게 된다.

이렇게 완성된 큰 도자기를 중심부분을 물결 모양으로 절단하여
작은 도자기를 큰 도자기 안에 살포시 겹쳐 맞춘다음 흙물로 겉바름을 하면
마치 달걀을 품은 도자기의 형태로 만들어 진다.

그런 다음 어느정도 마름이 진행된후
도자기 표면에 일정한 문양을 새겨 파내는 작업을 해야 한다.
이때부터 장인정신과 인고의 시간이 필요한 듯 하다.
손과 도구로 문양을 하나하나 아주 작은 오차없이
섬세하고 정교하게 파내야 하기 때문이다.
고도의 기술과 시간, 집중력을 요구하는 기법이다.
견딤으로써 비로서 명작이 탄생하는 순간이다.

무늬를 투각한 도자기 작품 한점을 완성하는데
최소 6개월이 걸린다고 한다.

김영수 명장은 국화, 매화, 무궁화 등의 무늬를 넣는
이중투각기법의 대가이다.

김영수 명장은 도자기 색의 전통을 살리기 위해 유약을 직접 배합한다.
유약은 돌가루 성분으로 흙이 유약을 입고 불에 들어가 물성이
전혀 다른 것으로 변한다.
이 과정에 도공의 기술과 경험이 스며들어
극히 일부가 예술품으로 태어난다.
그래서 모든 과정이 겸손해질 수 밖에 없다.
