Kodungallur Bharani Pattulsavam is one of the most powerful and unique temple festivals in Kerala. It is celebrated every year at the famous Kodungallur Bhagavathy Temple in Kodungallur, in Kerala, India.
Festival Time
The festival is held during the Malayalam month Meenam (March–April). The main celebration happens on the Bharani star day, which gives the festival its name.
Main Rituals
Kodungallur Bharani is famous for its intense devotional rituals and traditional practices:
Bharani Paattu – Devotees sing powerful traditional songs praising the Goddess.
Kaavu Theendal – Devotees run around the temple premises in a spiritual trance holding sticks and touching the temple structures.
Velichappadu (Oracle) – Temple oracles perform rituals and deliver divine messages believed to come from the Goddess.
Devotees
