How To Setup Earthmate With Android Smartphone via Bluetooth Garmin inReach SE+ Explorer+

In this video, I'll do over the steps to pair your android device with a Garmin inReach SE+ or Explorer+ using the Earthmate app.

The process is faily easy, just you need to have your android device loaded with the earthmate app (from the google play store) and bluetooth on.

When you first open up Earthmate, you'll have the option to log in using your Garmin inReach portal credentials or use your inReach device via bluetooth. You will need to have your inReach device activated before doing this.

Make sure you have bluetooth enabled on your Android device. You will see instructions how to pair your inReach SE+ with your Android device

On the inReach device, go to SETTINGS | BLUETOOTH and select PAIR DEVICE.

Note that if you use multiple devices with your inReach, you will need to pair each time you use a different device the previous time.

Once your inReach device is in pairing mode, go back to your Android device.

Tap CONNECT from Earthmate and wait a few seconds until you see the inReach device listed, then pair.

Once paired, you will get a prompt to download some of the free Delorme maps onto your Android device. Note that you should be in in Wifi mode. Otherwise you can use Earthmate with your inReach.

From here, just follow the wizard and choose the area where you want to download maps. Note that not all areas have the same number of maps available. However you will see the a combination of the following map layers:

World Reference map
Delorme Topo Map
NOAA maps
USGS Quads
Openstreetmap
Areial imagery
Digital Atlas

Tap on the info ivon for each map layer to further narrow which area to download. Once downloaded you will see the top layer displayed in your Earthmate app.
