Emotions are part of all of us, one of the few things we all have in common. Yet, for many of us we were not allowed to express them in a healthy way. Considering our cultural, intellectual understanding of emotions guides us to facilitate children's emotions. Emotions are needed to help children develop to their full potential. How well do we listen to children's emotions? Do we understand that children might not have language & cognitive capacity to articulate emotions.
During our conversation, we will discuss children's emotions using research child development theories to implement strategies in our daily routine for children. We will examine how to better understand and facilitate children to vent their emotions in a healthy and acceptable manner. We will create a meaningful dialogue about children to have healthy intentional conversations about emotions to normalize emotional awareness in our classroom. We will validate all our feelings!
