The search for 22 missing crew members continued in the Bay of Bengal on Tuesday, with two Chinese vessels joining Indian Coast Guard, Navy and merchant ships in the operation. Rescue teams are scouring waters around 290 nautical miles off the Paradip coast, but the crew remain unaccounted for after the Panama-flagged bulk carrier MV Ocean Winner sank.

Rescue teams recovered an empty lifeboat and an emergency position-indicating radio beacon (EPIRB) around 290 nautical miles off the Paradip coast. The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) ship Varad and other rescue teams located the equipment at around 7 am during the ongoing search and rescue operation.

ICG reportedly said the recovery of the EPIRB suggests that the vessel's distress equipment had been activated. Authorities, however, have yet to determine what happened to the crew after they abandoned the sinking ship.
