Different sports require different foods to fuel and prepare. Endurance sports require a lot of long-term energy. This is best acquired by eating plenty of carbohydrates and some protein. Carbohydrates will provide long-term energy and help to prevent injury and fatigue. Protein will help to repair the muscle after exercising.
With power and strength sports, athletes expend a lot of energy in short bursts. For these sports, athletes should eat adequate protein and monitor healthy fat intake.
