A night walk through central Bangkok, moving through shifting street energy around Asok.
This walk passes the area near Terminal 21, along Soi 19, through a short alley stretch, and down Asok Montri toward the Sukhumvit MRT. The pace and atmosphere change as the route moves between busier roads and quieter pockets.
No talking. Just walking and city sound.

Sawadee friends! Since we had a long Sukhumvit walk recently, I decided we should try poking around some of the side streets around one of our favorite malls, Terminal 21. This walk begins on the BTS Skywalk over the Asok intersection and passes next to the entrances from the BTS to Terminal 21. The Chinese New Year decor is still up and looking great - even more striking at night with the lanterns glowing.
I walked down to street level for a short bit before turning north onto Sukhumvit Soi 19 at the Westin Grande Sukhumvit. There are plenty of restaurants and other businesses close to Sukhumvit here, including El Gaucho. The further I walked, the calmer things become as activity faded into more residential areas.
At 100 Pi Sayam Samakhom Alley, I turned east to make my way towards the busier Asok-Montri road. I stopped at Healthland, a well-known massage and spa. Apparently they even have their own cafe here as well.
At Asok-Montri, I turned back southward towards the Asok intersection where it meets Sukhumvit road. They've been working on the sidewalks renovations here, so it was a mixture of construction and new sidewalk. I saw the entrance to the Siam Society, where they have traditional Thai houses that have been preserved as a museum. It's currently still closed for restoration, but if you happen to be curious (as I was), here is a link to their virtual tour of it: https://artsandculture.google.com/par...
Just past the Siam Society, I decided to take a detour through the Sukhumvit MRT station. After descending down one floor, I found myself in the metro mall section, where the hallways are lined with shops and kiosks. This portion of the station is great for when you need a quick and air-conditioned pass through under the Asok intersection, by the way. I followed the signs and emerged from the MRT station at the street level entrance of Terminal 21, next to Pala Pizza and the elevator to the BTS.
Thanks for watching. I hope you enjoyed our night out in Asok. See you next time!
