Showed the opening and some of the gameplay, though It was hard to figure out due to the amount of mechanics and the steep language barrier. Even with a translator it was hard to figure out what to do or what the story was about.
Thoughts:
Bible Master - Crash of the BlleotRutz\バイブル・マスター is a turn based strategy RPG by Japanese company Glodia who are mostly known in the west for Emerald Dragon which was recently translated into English by fans for the PC-Engine, MSX and a number of years ago for the Super Famicom. Bible Master was also released for the PC-98 and I did play that version for this video and yeah that one is not as good as the Towns version which is the one shown in this video. This is probably due to the fact that the Towns is more of a gaming capable machine than the PC-98 which is more business oriented. One thing to note that the while the PC-98 has FM and MIDI sound which the Towns version lacks the FM audio doesn't sound that great, the MIDI sounds ear rupturing bad. In fact in reminded me of a dying orchestra! I had to close the emulator and switch it over to FM sound when I was testing the PC-98 version it was so bad. This video covers the Towns version.
There is exactly zero information in English on Bible Master - Crash of the BlleotRutz. I tried to gather as much as I could about the story in the intro as I could in Google Translate and this is what I could come up with. There is a huge war going on. The tide changed when a mine was discovered that had an ore in it and an knight corps was formed. The mine was discovered in Tillion. Then other countries form to take down Tillion I think? Not too sure. I'm not exactly confident in this AI translation it didn't seem that great I really really had to parse it pretty hard as it was really jumbled. It has nothing to do with the Old or New Testament so if you clicked on this and were hoping for that well sorry. If Bible Master has elements to Christianity or Judaism it is so loosely based off of it that it is unrecognizable like how Shiva from Hinduism is represented in the Final Fantasy series for example.
From what I understand Glodia is known for their complicated stories and games with complex mechanics. Bible Master seems like no exception. After watching the opening which you can watch if you so choose or you or just skip it. You can select what episode you want to play which I imagine dictates what character you get to play as. Once you get to the map you start alone outside a town. This game uses the keyboard and mouse only. Right mouse brings up options and left is for confirm or information. To get into a town you have to right click the mouse on your character and select the top option to go into the town. In the town you can go into the usual places like a shop, inn, and pub. You can also recruit soldiers for a price to join your party. At the shop you can buy food to feed your party members and arm your party. On the map you can view the camp menu by left clicking Bible. This is as much as I could figure out. I couldn't figure out how to go into combat despite my best efforts. The gamepad only moves the cursor like the mouse does.
If your interested in checking this one out. The FM Towns is the superior version I think. Not only is it better animated and has better audio is just runs better overall even though it run on floppy disk rather than a CD. Despite that though you need to know Japanese to get anywhere and have a deep understanding of old school Japanese turn based strategy RPGs. I translator will only get you so far.
