This Weeks Music video returns us to the complex nerdistry of our old favorite, “Weird Al’. In 1989 Al had a movie, UHF; it brought the viewer into the whimsical world of Al’s imagination. This weeks song ’SPAM’ comes from the soundtrack and other stuff album.

The soundtrack album didn’t fair so well in 1989 due to the limited run in theaters. The album is more of a parody of a soundtrack album; complete with a Polka. AL is a master of the art of the parody; this Soundtrack album the two famous skit form the film; Gandhi II & Spatula City. This weeks song ‘Spam’ is a song parody of Stand by REM; set to a love affair with Spiced Ham And Other Meats. Speaking of Spiced Ham; Spam was introduced by Hormel 83 years ago. World War 2 brought Hormel success with an almost global reach. So, what is Spam? Its Pork shoulder; ground and spiced with a secret blend of herbs and spices. Hormel Produces some 20 different styles of Spam for the diverse market that Spam is sold in. The popularity of Spam has spread to all corners of the globe. Hawaii, for example, eats more Spam than anyone in the USA.

For the production of this video we purchased a can or three. Two we will consume, in time; the third, used as the main prop in this video—remains with us here at Utility.
