and the last humans were trapped aboard the International Space Station?
The ISS is self-sustaining:
it recycles water, produces oxygen through electrolysis, and holds enough food to survive for about two years.
So hunger and thirst wouldn’t be the problem…
The real enemy — is altitude.
Orbiting at 415 km, the ISS slowly loses height every day due to atmospheric drag, about 100 meters per day.
Without resupply missions or reboost fuel, its orbit would decay.
After around 15 months, the ISS would fall back toward Earth —
not because the crew ran out of air or food,
but because gravity never lets go.
The last humans wouldn’t starve…
They’d burn.
