I was inspired to buy this by a BBC article scaremongering about how these devices will make all your wiring disintegrate and cause fires and kill people. In reality, the unit is fairly light and doesn't really vibrate much when running. It's certainly no worse to a lamp holder than a super heavy tiffany glass lampshade or a classic 100W tungsten bulb that literally grilled the holder and wires until they crumbled to dust. And for twisting of wires see the cable in a self retracting vacuum cleaner or even a humble hair dryer.
Here's their article. Note that the fire service said they hadn't actually had any incidents where one of these had caused a fire.

This unit is actually quite impressive at an electronic level. It literally has an ARM Cortex processor running the show. I couldn't find a datasheet for this exact chip, but it clearly has dedicated PWM and three phase motor drive functionality, plus an integrated voltage regulator for its own power.
The unit has an input voltage range of 85v to 265V AC, which is rectified to DC internally before being distributed to a switching power supply for the motor and drive circuitry, and two separate mains voltage Bright Power LED drivers with PWM input.
Control is from a small infrared remote control or by toggling the light switch on and off to step through various modes including fan operation and cold, neutral and warm colour temperature lighting.
It's quite a sophisticated little thing. Fan speed is variable and does move a useful amount of air around the room, even at a low setting.
Here's the electrical data:-
Standby power = 1W
Full light output at all shades of white = 11.5W
Low speed fan = 5W
Medium speed fan = 7.4W
High speed fan = 10W
Stalled fan at full speed = 3.5W
The switch operation works like this:-
First switch on ramps up to cold white with no fan.
Switching off and on quickly cycles through:-
Cold white and fan.
Just the fan.
Warm white.
Neutral white.
Back to cold white.
