The Sacred and The Common
Our culture doesn’t distinguish between the holy and the common. Do we also treat God as “common” and not as our supernatural, sacred, and Holy God? A great test of the heart is how we approach corporate worship. Is it important and a top priority of my discipleship in Christ. Do I expect to encounter God each Sunday as his church gathers to lift up the name of the risen Jesus? Or, have I made worship a “religious duty” instead of being an active participant as a worshiper? Remember, worship is a verb, not a noun! What about as a disciple of Christ - do you view yourself as “set apart” for God’s own use? The Bible calls this “consecration.” Make no bones about it, Jesus expects his disciples to be fully consecrated (set apart) for daily service in God’s Kingdom. This Sunday, we will celebrate The Lord’s Supper together. Once again, we remember how Jesus was “consecrated” to his Father as he willingly died for us on a cross. As we celebrate this sacred truth and historical fact, come prepared to worship the living God with your entire being. Let’s be a local body who continues to offer ourselves as living sacrifices in the service of our risen King.
