Here, I am making giant bubbles at Natural Bridges Beach in Santa Cruz and they are literally bouncing and rolling across the very wet sand. What is actually happening is a phenomenon called non-coalescence. Non-coalescence happens when there is a layer of air between 2 liquid bodies, caused by surface tension, in this case it's the layer of water over the sand and the soap solution in the bubble membrane. The wind keeps the bubbles moving, which can keep the bubbles from coalescing with the water on top of the sand. This phenomenon is seen in a few of my videos of bubbles bouncing and rolling down the beach.
